Overview

Precision espresso grinding meets compact, straightforward single-dose design.

The Turin SK40 Single-Dose Stepless Espresso Grinder is built for home baristas who want fine control over grind size without sacrificing valuable counter space. Its 40mm eight-point stainless-steel conical burrs pair with a side-mounted worm-drive stepless adjustment system, allowing exceptionally small changes while dialing in espresso.

A 150W gear motor operates at approximately 400 RPM while grinding, while the tilted aluminum body, bellows, and short grounds path support an efficient, low-retention single-dose workflow. Although optimized for espresso control, the SK40 can grind from espresso through pour-over and French press.

Key Features

  • 40mm Stainless-Steel Conical Burrs — Eight-point burr geometry designed for espresso and multiple brewing methods.

  • Stepless Worm-Drive Adjustment — Make precise grind changes without being limited to predetermined clicks.

  • Espresso-Focused Control — Fine adjustment makes it easier to dial in the small grind changes that can significantly affect espresso extraction.

  • 150W Gear Motor — Operates at approximately 400 RPM under load for controlled grinding.

  • Single-Dose Workflow — Weigh each dose before grinding and switch coffees without maintaining a full hopper.

  • Low-Retention Design — Tilted body, bellows, and compact grounds path help move coffee through the grinder.

  • Compact Footprint — At only 3.75" wide, the SK40 fits comfortably into smaller coffee stations.

  • Mostly Metal Construction — Aluminum body and base provide a substantial, durable feel.

  • Stainless-Steel Dosing Cup — Included for convenient transfer of freshly ground coffee to your portafilter.

  • Broad Grind Range — Capable of espresso-fine grinding through pour-over and French press settings.

Why This Product Stands Out

The SK40's defining feature is its worm-drive adjustment system. Rather than jumping between fixed grind settings, the side-mounted knob gradually rotates the grind collar, providing extensive control between reference points.

That precision makes the SK40 particularly appealing for espresso, where even a small grind adjustment can noticeably change extraction.

Its conical burr design generally emphasizes body, texture, and rounded sweetness, making it especially attractive for traditional espresso, medium and darker roasts, and milk-based drinks.

The tradeoff is that moving a long distance between espresso and coarse brewing requires multiple turns of the adjustment knob. The SK40 is therefore particularly well suited to users who primarily stay within one brew range.

Important Ownership Notes

This SK40 is the 110–120V, 60Hz US model.

Turin grinders are factory-tested with coffee, so a small amount of coffee residue may be present in a new grinder. This is a normal result of factory testing.

For significant adjustments toward a finer grind, run the grinder if beans remain between the burrs. Always unplug the grinder before cleaning or accessing internal components, and keep liquids away from the burr chamber and motor.

Retention and static can vary with coffee, roast level, humidity, cleanliness, grind setting, and bellows technique.
